Open Question: I wanted to go out for a run tomorrow at 6am. Good or bad idea?

This is my first time running outside. I do have a bottle of Mace (pepper spray) & a rape whistle. I don't plan on using an iPod. I'll have my cell phone on me, too. Is it okay if I go out for a run tomorrow morning? I'm 5"1, 100lb, and live in Michigan. How far do you think I should run? 2-3 blocks and back home? I live in Dearborn, but grew up near Detroit!
